Eli’s Cheesecake Festival, Saturday and Sunday at Eli’s Cheesecake World, boasts culinary demonstrations, free samples, cheesecake eating contests, cheesecake dancers, and even cheesecake hula hoop (they don’t say how those last two are going to involve cheesecake, but it doesn’t sound pretty). There’s also a classic car show, an artists’ market, music–including one act that’s part of the World Music Festival–and rides for kids.

Taste of Romania is this Saturday and Sunday at the corner of Addison and California. In addition to Romanian food, live music and dance, there’ll be grape stomping and free grape juice. You can also watch as 150 pigs, 150 lambs, and a 1,000-pound ox are roasted on spits over open fires, then served fresh.

Beginning Monday and continuing through Saturday, Kiki’s Bistro is offering an $89 champagne dinner. Each of the four courses will be paired with a Moet & Chandon or Veuve Clicquot champagne from the 2000 vintage, and the room will be lit by more than 300 suspended votive candles.
