What’s a birthday without ice cream? Luckily, you won’t have to find out: once a year you can get free ice cream all over town if you jump through a few simple hoops. Log onto the Web sites of Baskin-Robbins and Cold Stone Creamery to register for their birthday clubs; you’ll be sent coupons for a free BR cone or Cold Stone “creation.” E-mail Jury’s in Lincoln Square (4337 N. Lincoln) at jurys@sbcglobal.net and tell them your birth date; on the first day of the appropriate month, they’ll send you a $15 gift certificate good for that month. Margie’s Candies (1960 N. Western or 1813 W. Montrose) makes it the easiest. Just show them your ID (or get your friends to vouch for you) and they’ll reward your longevity with a free cone or a bag of candy, chocolates, nuts, or fruits–your choice. –Megan Roberts
